Efficacy of ballast-water exchange.
Researchers at the Naval Surface Warfare Center, Carderock Division, in Bethesda, MD, used EnSight to study the efficacy of a flushing process know as ballast-water exchange that cargo ships perform to inhibit the spread of non-indigenous aquatic life.

EnSight post processing of a drill bit fluid flow simulation. Here, EnSight 9.1's volume rendering capability is used to visualize the complete fluid domain at once, using the volume rendering function. This particular visualization is volume rendered using the velocity field. Therefore, areas with higher velocity are rendered as more opaque, and the flowfield with lower velocity as more transparent. Animation of a motor yacht in head waves, solved using Comet, the CFD solver from CDadapco. Flow equations and rigid body motion equations were solved to account for dynamic trim and sinkage. Image on the bottom right shows the yacht hull colored by pressure distribution.

Telling the whole story of a crash. EnSight is used to make a seamless animation from two stages of a simulation. Using MSC.ADAMS for the approach, and MSC.DYTRAN for the crash analysis, the sequence of events is shown to give context to the crash analysis.
